What Is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese Medicine, dating back over 5,000 years ago, that uses needling, moxabustion, cupping, gua sha, and tui na to helps restore the body’s natural ability to heal. An experienced practitioner will use a combination of these techniques along with nutritional counselling and Qi Gong to treat and prevent the root cause and symptoms of a patient’s illness.
How Does It Work?
Acupuncture is based on the belief that Qi, pronounced “chee,” is the vital life force flowing through all living things. When we experience poor health such as disease, pain, emotional trauma, mental stress or physical injury, the vital energy that runs through our bodies’ meridians is disrupted. Acupuncture works to restore the healthy flow of Qi. Simply stated, an acupuncturist locates the point at which your bodies Qi is blocked, she then employs a combination of techniques to treat the patient’s primary symptoms to allow the vital energy to flow freely or return to its natural healthy balance.
